What would you do if there were a cure for Celiac Disease?

The idea of a new strain of wheat is not appealing to me, especially without knowing the potential long term effects of this new idea. The idea reminds me of genetically modified foods. So this question was one that I would quickly say no to. And even though the idea of the intestinal transplant is also a farfetched one, it still prompted me to think “what if there was a cure, whatever it may be?”
While not having to worry about gluten and its many side effects would be nice, it’s not so burdensome that I would trade it for a cure. Shocking, right? But you have to understand, having Celiac Disease has had a largely positive impact on me & my life. Yes, there have been struggles and hard times, but those struggles resulted in advantageous lessons for me. I’m more aware of what I put into my body (and how it will affect me), I listen to my body more, and more importantly, I take better care of not only me, but my family as well. Celiac Disease has taught me to cherish and appreciate each body as complex & unique, which is largely why I’ve chosen to study Health Education & Nutrition.
Also, the emergence of gluten-free has partially inspired a new movement of more readily available healthy, pure, organic foods and products; it’s a movement that has been overdue & much needed. We now have a strong opportunity to combat health related issues by simply being smart & cognizant of our diets. This can help drastically reduce the need for pharmaceutical products and reoccurring doctor visits. Given the option between the two, consuming a healthy, pure diet wins hands down in my book!
Since I began blogging, I’ve connected with so many wonderful, creative people & companies. The gluten-free community is one that embraces, encourages, and supports each other. We’ve created such an intricate network; one that is invaluable. Today I can’t imagine life without them and their support.
So I leave you with this simple question to contemplate:
